Welcome To The Practice - An Introduction
Our practice is one
of the longest established in Doncaster; it was established in the late 1890s.
Our present senior partner Dr Braidwood joined in 1981. Over the years we have
occupied a number of different premises having had surgeries in Hallgate, South
Parade and Bradford Row.
As times change and standards rise, we have
constantly improved the facilities and services which we offer. In 1992 we moved
to custom-built premises here at The Medical Centre, in Frances Street, which
we feel provides everything needed for the high quality of care and service which
is now expected. While we have 'moved with the times' and have computerised our
medical records, it remains one of the delights for us, as doctors, to realise
that we continue to be a genuinely “family” practice. Our highly trained
nurse team now provides much of the care that traditionally would have been done
by a doctor.
We have many patients whose families have been our patients
for generations, and this tradition of family medicine is one which we actively
foster and encourage.
The doctors and staff at The Medical Centre aim to
provide you with a high quality efficient confidential service that meets your
needs. Our aim is to make your visits to us as friendly and effective as possible.
Our practice is one of the Doncaster Central Primary Trust's service providers. The Trust employs some of the staff who work from our practice and we work closely with them and the Trust to provide a high quality of care and work in line with the Primary Care Trust Clinical Governance Plan. The Trust can be contacted at NHS Doncaster Trust, White Rose House, Ten Pound Walk, Doncaster DN4 5DJ (Tel: 01302 565656).
DonCare
- An Introduction
In 1997 we applied to
become a Primary Care Pilot (now just called PMS) in partnership with The Phoenix Practice (we have since been joined by the Tickhill & Colliery Practice). The main
changes resulting from this are the number of specialist clinics we now run. These
include Respiratory, Blood Pressure Control and Diabetes. We also run a comprehensive nurse triage and minor illness
clinic to assist you with your medical problems and direct you to the most appropriate
service. Our highly trained nurse team and in some cases our pharmacist run all these clinics. These improvements
have enabled us to reduce the number of days it takes to see your doctor or nurse.
We are continuously looking for ways to improve our services to you. In order
to work together we needed to be recognised as a unit within the NHS, hence the
name DonCare was born which you will see on the top of newsletters etc. A point
you need to be aware of, but makes no difference to the care you receive, is that
we now provide service under Personal Medical Services (PMS) rather than General
Medical Services (GMS).
This
website has been designed to tell you about the practice and the services that
we offer. Please read it carefully. We trust that you will find it helpful and
informative.
