MEMBERS OF THE PRACTICE TEAM

Practice Management

(Mr) Chris Simmonds is general manager, a role in which his duties include the overall responsibility for the development of DonCare in its continuing quest to develop and improve the services we offer you. The practice manager is Lorayne Wilkinson who is responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of our surgery.

Reception/Support Staff

Angela Poppleton is our Support Services Manager and works closely with Noeleen Kilbride running our receptionists/support team who organise appointment times, take care of repeat prescription requests, answer your telephone queries and welcome you when you come to The Medical Centre. Our receptionists provide a full support service to both you the patient and to the medical team. All our staff receive regular training to ensure they can offer you the best possible service. They are bound by strict rules of confidentiality.

Nursing and Other Services

We employ a team of practice nurses who, along with other health professionals (such as district nurses, health visitors, midwifery team, physiotherapist, dietitian, counselling and community psychiatric nurse service who are attached to our surgery), provide a full nursing and support service five days a week. They undertake the running of a number of special clinics as well as the nurse treatment service.

Our nurses run a minor illness clinic each day where one of our nursing staff can deal with your acute minor illness and advise you on the best course of action.

Our nurses have received training in various areas to enable them to run a wide range of clinics. One of our nurses and our pharmacist have also passed the prescriber course and can therefore issue their own prescriptions. The continuing development of their skills combined with the relationship they have built with you have enabled them to expand their role considerably over the years.

Pharmacist

We have a resident pharmacist - Alison Howard. She will be happy to give you advice on your medication and you can contact her here by telephone. She works with the team on the respiratory, heart care, blood pressure and HRT clinics etc. We are proud to be one of the first practices to offer this enhanced service to you our patients. Alison is subject to the same confidentiality regime as all our team in the use of your medical records etc.

Medical Students

Medical students attend the practice to gain 'first hand' medical experience. You will be told if a medical student wishes to 'sit in' on your consultation and can refuse this if you wish. Training future doctors is in the interests of all our patients and we hope you support them.
